How to Brew Coffee with a V60
The grind should resemble granulated sugar. A grind that's too fine may result in bitterness, while one that's too coarse can produce a weak and watery cup.

Recommended Starting Recipe:
  • 15 g coffee
  • 250 ml water
Use this recipe as a starting point and adjust it to suit your taste.

How to Brew?

  • Rinse the paper filter with hot water and discard the rinse water from the server or carafe.
  • Add the ground coffee and gently shake the dripper to level the coffee bed.
  • Begin with the bloom:
    Pour 40–50 g of water.
    Wait 30–40 seconds.
  • During the bloom, carbon dioxide trapped in the coffee during roasting is released, allowing for a more even extraction.
  • Continue pouring the remaining water slowly in small circular pours until you reach your target weight.
  • Once all the water has passed through the coffee bed, remove the dripper and serve.
  • Tip
Pour slowly and evenly in circular motions, avoiding direct contact with the paper filter. This helps ensure a more even extraction and a balanced cup.
  • Characteristics
The paper filter captures most of the coffee's oils and fine particles, producing a clean, light-bodied cup that clearly expresses the coffee's origin and flavor profile.

The paper filter captures most of the coffee's oils and fine particles, producing a clean, light-bodied cup that clearly expresses the coffee's origin and flavor profile.
Characteristics
    • We recommend using freshly ground coffee whenever possible. Once coffee is ground, it gradually loses aromatic compounds that contribute to flavor and aroma.
    • Always rinse the paper filter with hot water before brewing. This removes any paper taste while preheating both the dripper and the server.
    • Pour the water gradually in small batches, making sure the entire coffee bed is evenly saturated throughout the brew.
  • For a lighter, cleaner cup
After the bloom, use two main pours.

For example, with 250 ml of water:
    • 50 ml — Bloom
    • Pour to 150 ml
    • Pour to 250 ml

This approach emphasizes clarity, brightness, and acidity.
  • For a sweeter, fuller-bodied cup
After the bloom, use three main pours.

For example, with 250 ml of water:
    • 50 ml — Bloom
    • Pour to 120–130 ml
    • Pour to 190–200 ml
    • Pour to 250 ml

The additional pour promotes a more even extraction and often results in greater sweetness, body, and balance.
Experiment with Grind Size
    • If the coffee tastes too sour or weak, try using a slightly finer grind.
    • If the coffee tastes too bitter or heavy, try using a slightly coarser grind.
    • Even small adjustments to grind size can make a noticeable difference in the final cup.
