Espresso Brewing Guide
Espresso grind should resemble fine table salt. Because water is in contact with the coffee for only 25–30 seconds, a fine grind is essential for proper extraction.

For example, if you use 18 g of ground coffee, aim for approximately 36 g of espresso in the cup. However, it's best to focus on the brew ratio rather than a specific dose.

How to Brew?

  • Fill the machine's water reservoir with fresh drinking water.
  • Use freshly ground coffee, or fill the built-in grinder with whole beans if your espresso machine has one.
  • Prepare your espresso machine according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Start the extraction and allow the machine to brew for approximately 25–30 seconds.
  • For the most balanced cup, aim for a 1:2 coffee-to-beverage ratio. The exact coffee dose depends on your espresso machine and recipe.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy the fullest aroma and flavor.
  • Tip
If you're making espresso at home, don't try to replicate a café recipe exactly. Every espresso machine performs differently, so let taste be your guide. Adjust the grind size or coffee dose until you find the flavor you enjoy most.
  • Characteristics
Espresso is the foundation of many classic coffee drinks, including cappuccino, latte, and americano. Brewing under high pressure creates a rich, concentrated beverage with a full body and the signature golden crema on top.

Characteristics
    • We recommend using freshly ground coffee whenever possible. Once coffee is ground, it immediately begins to lose aromatic compounds through contact with air.
    • Water temperature has a significant impact on extraction. Water that is too hot may increase bitterness, while water that is too cool can lead to under-extraction and a less expressive cup.
    • For a richer, more concentrated espresso
Reduce the beverage yield to approximately 1:1.5–1:1.8.
    • For more sweetness and clearer flavor notes
Increase the beverage yield to around 1:2.5.
    • If the espresso tastes too sour or weak
Try using a slightly finer grind.
    • If the espresso tastes too bitter or heavy
Try using a slightly coarser grind.
If your coffee has already been ground
If adjusting the grind isn't possible:
  • If the espresso tastes weak or watery, slightly increase the coffee dose.
  • If it tastes too strong, bitter, or heavy, slightly reduce the coffee dose.
