How to Brew Coffee with an AeroPress
The grind should resemble granulated sugar. A grind that's too fine may produce a bitter cup, while one that's too coarse can result in under-extraction.

Recommended Starting Recipe:
  • 15 g coffee
  • 250 ml water
This recipe is a great starting point and can easily be adjusted to suit your personal taste.

How to Brew?

  • Insert the paper filter into the filter cap and rinse it thoroughly with hot water.
  • Add the ground coffee to the AeroPress.
  • Pour in the desired amount of hot water according to your chosen recipe.
  • Stir the coffee 2–3 times to ensure even extraction.
  • Insert the plunger and allow the coffee to steep for 1–2 minutes.
  • Press the plunger down slowly and steadily until all the coffee has passed through the filter.

The total brew time is typically 2–3 minutes.
  • Tip
Press the plunger slowly and smoothly. Applying excessive force won't speed up the brewing process—it can actually reduce balance and clarity in the final cup.
  • Characteristics
The AeroPress combines immersion brewing with paper filtration, producing a clean cup with more body than traditional pour-over methods. It offers an excellent balance of sweetness, clarity, and richness.

The AeroPress combines immersion brewing with paper filtration, producing a clean cup with more body than traditional pour-over methods. It offers an excellent balance of sweetness, clarity, and richness.
Characteristics
    • We recommend using freshly ground coffee whenever possible. Ground coffee gradually loses aromatic compounds that contribute to flavor and aroma.
    • The AeroPress is one of the most forgiving brewing methods. Even with small changes to grind size, brewing time, or recipe, it's easy to produce a delicious and balanced cup.
    • This is one of the reasons why the AeroPress is popular with both beginners and experienced baristas.
    • Avoid pressing the plunger too forcefully. A gentle, steady press helps produce a cleaner and more balanced extraction.
  • For a lighter, cleaner cup
    • Use a slightly coarser grind.
    • Reduce the steeping time to 1 minute.

This approach typically highlights floral and fruity notes while creating a lighter, more transparent cup.
  • For a sweeter, fuller-bodied cup
    • Use a slightly finer grind.
    • Increase the steeping time to 2–3 minutes.

The longer contact time allows for greater sweetness, body, and overall intensity.
Experiment with Water Temperature
    • 90–92°C generally produces a softer, sweeter cup.
    • 93–94°C enhances flavor clarity and brings out more of the coffee's complexity.
